Earthquake????

OK. So....a little over an hour ago, I was standing up in my room talking on the phone and I felt a rumble under my feet which built up to the entire townhome shaking.

I went outside and my neighbor confirmed he experienced the same thing.

I've been watching the news but nothing has come across to confirm it. This is not an area that is prone to this type of activity.

I just have to know what happened.

So I sent an email to the local geologist. He probably thinks I'm a fruitcake but seriously, it's killing me.

Wouldn't you want to know?

I Know, I Know

I haven't been terribly chatty lately.

Until I get my muse back, please enjoy this video.

Since I am from a small Southern town, I can probably appreciate this more than those who are not.

It put a smile on my face that's for sure.

And yes, I have definitely been to a church very much like this one. My mother used to play the piano (or organ) for small churches.

Clutter

Ever since I've starting living in this really small space, I have become more aware of the clutter I manage to collect. It's to the point where I just want to grab the trash can and start throwing out all the things that I am not using. I was thinking how I'm paying for TWO not one TWO large storage rooms full of things that I have managed to live without for an entire year. Granted I need to hold on to my furniture for when I move but seriously, I need to get that down to one room folks don't you think????

I feel like I would be happier living a simplier lifestyle but I just don't know where I should start.

I guess by grabbing the trash can and throwing stuff out.

Ok, goal is to get rid of 10 things out of my room tonight.

Friday Fill-Ins

1. Holidays in the summer are what keep me going.

2. Red hot dogs are my favorite things to grill.

3. My thoughts are something I'm going to put aside until the weekend is over.

4. Playing in the waves is what I'm most looking forward to this weekend!

5. My favorite book so far this summer is The Sugar Queen.

6. Waking up when I am ready instead of to the sound of my alarm clock is the best way to begin a day.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to seeing fireworks, tomorrow my plans include a morning walk on the beach and Sunday, I want to help my roommate celebrate her birthday!

Thirteen Things I'm Going to Do This Summer

It's been a while! Enjoy!

1. I am going to buckle down and get some serious studying done for my certification test. I've been goofing off.

2. I'm going on a girl's trip to Asheville for the Belle Chere festival and to see the Biltmore house.

3. I'm going to stay out of Nordstroms unless I'm using a gift card.

4. I'm going to see Raheem Davaughn, Snoop Dogg, and Journey in concert. As you can see, I like a wide variety of music.

5. I am going to get the beach as often as I can. I really missed going to the beach when I was in Texas.

6. I am going to be crafty and take a jewelry class.

7. I am going to clean out my storage units. Boxes are busted open, stuff is everywhere!

8. I am going to make sure I'm getting plenty of rest.

9. I am going to drink many green smoothies.

10. I am going to take some yoga classes.

11. I am going to the movies to catch all of the summer blockbusters.

12. I am going to take my friend's offers up on visiting their churches.

13. I am going to track my spending more closely.

Happy Thursday Thirteen!!

Farmer's Market Trips

I forgot to add the other new thing I'm trying.

I've blogged before about my trips to the Farmer's Market and how I need to eat in more during the week.

I've decided to base my daily diet around what is in season at the Farmer's Market. For instance, yellow squash, blueberries, corn and green beans are in season here so I've been looking for recipes so I can take advantage of this. I've been making my protein shakes with fresh blueberres and I am have a Tex Mex Squash Casserole in the oven now. Blueberry season won't last much longer however cantaloupes are coming into season soon so I'll be trying that out in my smoothies and protein shakes.

Not to mention that buying local produce is good for your environment as well as your local economy.
